Many acclaimed artists and orators attribute their greatness to “something wonderful that simply takes them over—some spontaneous presence from within.” What they are experiencing, of course, is God’s Presence, which frees them from the limiting constraints of their egos. No matter what your calling is in life, such moments are available to you, too.
In life, it’s not so much what you experience, but how you react to it. Most people react negatively to a bad experience and positively to a good experience. But the best way to react to any experience is to let God’s Presence guide your reaction, so you can maximize the good in every experience—even the most difficult.
Many people live unfulfilled lives because they didn’t respond when God attempted to give them something they have long been waiting for. Don’t let a gift from God pass you by. By meditating daily on God’s Presence, and turning over your will to God’s Will, you’ll come to know when “your time has come.”
If it is true that “God provides,” then why do so many people pray for so many things, but God does not provide what is being prayed for? The answer is that it is not in tune with God’s Will for the highest good of the person’s soul in this lifetime, or in the immediate moment of the person’s life.
How far are you willing to go to achieve a goal? That’s a question usually asked by the ego, and the ego responds with what it is willing to do. But from a spiritual standpoint, if you are willing to go “all the way” to achieve a goal, that means turning over the achievement of that goal to God’s Presence within you.
When interacting with others, always do what you consider to be the right thing. When you intentionally do the wrong thing, it’s an act of your ego. When you do the right thing, it’s an act arising from God’s goodness. The more you do right by others, the closer you are to God’s Presence within you.
We live and move and have our being in a Universe of Consciousness—God’s Consciousness. We were created by this Universal Consciousness, and we are sustained by it. As such, it is never the ego that is in charge. The only true power is God. And cooperating with God should be your utmost priority.
