“Guruism”
The only true teacher or guru is to be found within oneself.
There’s an old Hindu expression that goes, “When the chela (or student) is ready, the guru (or teacher) will appear.” Until a soul has satisfactorily spiritually awakened to a higher awareness, it continues to look outward to find a guru or spiritual teacher to provide a passage from mortal to immortal consciousness.
A true teacher will shun grandiose, spiritual accolades and simply be a spiritual signpost—pointing students back into themselves.
Such information may contradict the adoration by many students for those who might be described as being from the spiritual bloodline of gurus, bestowing enlightenment on those who seek it. That adoration, however, is still one more illusion that even the most earnest may encounter.
True spiritual teachers know that only the All-Knowing within oneself can provide Ultimate Enlightenment. Only Universal Consciousness, Mind, Spirit, or God within oneself can provide the Ultimate Spiritual Experience.
When students are moved by the Greater within themselves, and are truly ready to be true teachers or gurus themselves, then the real inner teacher will provide them all that is needed.
The point is this: Listen only to teachers who say to you, “Listen only to the still small voice within yourself that is the sound of Universal Presence.” Realize that all else they may speak of, while interesting, is superfluous to the real goal of life—connecting in Mystical Union with the Ultimate Teacher within yourself.
Be within, while accomplishing without, knowing that you need not seek Truth outwardly, for when you are ready Truth will seek you from within.
