From a very young age, Patrice has been a walker between worlds. As far as she can recall, she has been interacting with the spirit realm. She recalls having a longing to rise up on the mist to be with God. Nearly four decades later, she would come to know these longings as a mystical calling.
As she grew into her teenage years, she wrestled with the effects of childhood traumas. By night, she grappled with the terror of the spiritual encounters she could not understand. At the age of 15, she made her first suicide attempt.
To find answers and relief from her pain, she oscillated between the secular world of pleasure and pain and the spiritual world of seeking God and answers. Nothing seemed to be working. She felt like a broken failure. After her second suicide attempt at age 18, waking up to the sight of her baby daughter in her crib and the realisation she did not want to die, she just wanted to end the pain, she vowed to herself never to take her own life. She waded through the quagmire of depression, despair, paranoia, and the incessant impulse to kill herself.
During that same year, she discovered Wicka. She developed her powers incredibly fast. What should have taken years took weeks. But this power high was short-lived. She was told by a psychic/medium that the devil had taken her for a disciple. The shock of this news catapulted her into psychosis. She remained in a state of psychosis for a year or so. During this time of sheer terror, she would gain some of her greatest insights. Not knowing where to turn, she turned back to church. But church after church, she could not find healing or the answers she needed. At age 25, she became muslim. After nearly a decade in Islam, a failed marriage, and two more children, she was still depressed, still terrified. She had accumulated OCD, an eating disorder, and neurosis. Patrice was also experiencing dissonance. One particular expression was the experience of “death phobia,” while paradoxically still fatigued by the urge to end her life.
Her intuition had been prompting her that she needed counselling, but it had to be with someone who was a qualified therapist with knowledge of the spirit realm. She was too afraid of being misdiagnosed, drugged, or locked up in a mental institution. Her spiritual ability had shut down. She refused to interact with the Spirit world. She had abandoned the idea of trying to know God. And was actively rebelling.
At age 32, she hit a crisis point; she could no longer function in public. This had happened before in her 20s when she had first sought counselling. This time, she felt compelled to get help, even if it was with a secular therapist. The therapy was enough to help her out of the crisis and had planted a little idea that she, too, might become a counsellor one day.
During the time of her being a trainee counsellor, she began to see and know things once more. This time in a way that she could not ignore. She would understand what the client was feeling and how the symptoms manifested. She could tell clients things she did not know how she knew. The energies of the therapeutic dynamic had reactivated her abilities, but now she was afraid for other reasons. She was nearly qualified as a therapeutic counsellor and was seeing apparitions and talking to clients in ways that seemed antithetical to her training.
She felt compelled to understand these abilities and happenings. With terror and curiosity, she began on the path once more to find God. Remembering the scripture, “seek out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” In her quest to find God, she found in herself the healer she was looking for in her younger years.
Patrice has a profound appreciation for her calling. She is able to identify her purpose and pain in the archetype of the wounded healer. On her healing journey, she learned the art of Alchemical transmutation. Her personal experience alongside years of professional training furnished her with the tools to heal herself and her clients. She broke through the fear barrier of her spiritual calling and now works as a bridge between worlds.
